I don't think they should be reset. I know a majority of us want a reset, but that isn't fair to the people who put several hours worth of effort into building and don't want to lose that. It's a tyranny by majority and sure ain't right.

in an infinite world generated randomly, just heading in one direction for a little while has literally the same effect as eliminating all of the old stuff except for the fact that i get to keep my shit. seems to me like there aint nothin to gain by resetting it that can't also be gained by moving the spawn point up north or down south or basically to some other place. if you want a fresh start with legit buildings that's great! i built my shit mostly legit, though, so yeah it took a while to make and uh
counterarguments i done heard:
1. but lag!
i havent noticed any! if you have then here are some steps you could take short of deleting all my shit:
1a. turn off monsters 1b. delete the empty chunks you're not using anyway in the opposite direction we ultimately decide to set the new spawn 1c. resist adding new chunks to the map until we actually need to (shouldn't be for a while, there is a ton of empty space)
2. but dwindling resources!
don't be ridiculous, yeah the caves right underneath the spawn are like sort of kind of empty but i don't have any trouble finding diamonds or anything else if i actually put a little effort in, especially if i go digging in one of the many candidates for a new spawn, also check out the map there are probably hundreds of those precious red roses still hanging around, and once again this is assuming that we just don't expand the map further, which honestly, we can do
3. but the other place is boring to me!
well excuse me princess
4. you care too much about your shit anyway!
well excuse me princess
so yes in summary you guys can exercise as much self-control as you suddenly want to without Deleting My Shit, maybe consider it

As far as I know, Rose, they've already practically deleted your shit.
Or at least burned my forest to the ground, unless I've been lied to as a prank. (Possible)
If that did happen I couldn't complain about starting over except for other people wanting to "Keep Their Shit."
Unless it would be possible to have some people keep their stuff (by somehow deleting everything around it or by moving it into the new server somehow) I would advise against starting over.
I really doubt any of this is possible, though.

Actually it is.
You can use a map editor and move structures from one map to another.
Or delete everything around what you want to keep.
Though if there is fire in the same chunk as that then yeah you don't to do that because it'll just set everything on fire again.

What I meant was have some people elect whether or not they want to keep what the had or start over, then generate a new map from there. And with this server that might not be possible, but it might not hurt to look into.
